Paradise
Winter 2023
Paradise
Miami Theatre Works is proud to share that Paradise, an original play by our very own Executive Director Michael Stoddard, was selected to premiere at the historic LATEA Theater in New York City as part of the New York Theater Festival in November 2023. Paradise was honored to join 90 other productions filled with amazing talent as part of the oldest and largest theater festival in New York and we are truly humbled to have won Best Production, Best Director (Michael Stoddard), Best Actor (Robby McGhee), and Nomination for Best Actor (Owen Reynolds). Congrats to everyone who participated in this year’s Festival.
Paradise is the story of Sara and John Davidson, a young newlywed couple that has just eloped at the Paradise Cove Resort in Cancun for the honeymoon of their dreams only to find that John’s travel deal has left the couple trapped inside a vacation nightmare that gets worse (and funnier) by the minute! With their union on the rocks, a lesbian couple and a manic hotel manager bulldoze their way into the relationship in order to resolve the conflict and restore the couple’s faith in love.
